Jeroen Heester
Boxmeer (1972)
Amsterdam.

Jeroen Heester is a prize winning architect, artist, teacher and publicist.
Educated in landscape architecture, followed by architecture/urbanism, at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Works by Heester have been exhibited in musea and art platforms in the Netherlands. His architectural visions have been published both nationally and internationally.

Heester: “It seems as if we have choosen the battlefield of fear and greed and its equivalents, to spent our entire lives in. I have never been able to ignore the hidden duality in that concept. It has become the fundamental theme in my early works. Nonetheless, I question its value for artistic use.” (2016)

In 2016 an artistic crisis ‘happened’, followed by a two or three year period of contemplation and a lack of physical production.
Meanwhile he earned his money and remained connected to society, working as an architect for the municipality of Amsterdam and shortly for Zaandam. For his teaching activities he was envited to the Iceland university, where he re-connected to his landscape architectural fundament. During his analyses of the landscape he discovered another language to artistically express his work.

Heester: “The past two or three years have been my most productive ones. My mind feels cristal clear for the first time.” (2018)
